I have a touching new beginnings story to share with all of you today for my 52 on Friday post. I just can’t believe it’s week 7 already..

Last weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the most gorgeous couple awaiting the arrival of their very first baby. From the beginning, Amy and I had discussed all sorts of ideas for her shoot and at one point I mentioned that we should incorporate some heirloom pieces into the session… anything that had real meaning. A passed down pair of booties, a knit sweater..a quilt, etc. Amy agreed and thought she would have a few things. And so the wait began…

About a week before our session, Amy’s grandmother, who had been struggling with her health for several months, fell ill again and was now in hospital out of town. She had been struggling for some time but had mentioned to family members that she was holding on to meet Amy’s baby as she was a “special grand-daughter” to her –her grandmother had lost her son, (Amy’s father), years ago and wanted to be there for Amy and the baby in his stead. That week she mentioned that she had something special for the baby… Amy was to see her on Tuesday;  her grandmother passed on Monday…

The quilt in this capture is that special something she had made for her brand-new great-grandchild…

I am so moved and touched by Amy’s story and am so crazy grateful that Amy chose to share it with me.. allowing me to capture this image. THIS is why I do what I do. This is why I can’t imagine doing anything else. For these moments.

They say that with every ending, comes a new beginning. Amy, I just know that your father and grandmother will be watching over your little girl.. she will always have angels on her shoulder…

What we call the beginning is often the end.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
The end is where we start from.

Now on to Gigi’s blog Of Life and Lens for her new beginning.. it’s sure to be pure awesome ♥
